A beautiful circular route, following donkey paths surrounded by peaceful pastures.
In this tour, we hike through the typical rural landscapes of Mykonos towards the unspoiled Merchia beach, following a single track and a quiet paved road. We walk past the entrance of the abandoned barite mine, giving us the chance to discuss about the mining activity and this past aspect of locals’ lives. Once at the pristine beach of Merchia, we can spend up to 1 hour. During our beach break, we offer homemade organic lemonade with a snack, and allow free time to select among the following beach activities:
Our way back to Mykonos Vioma Organic Farm is almost entirely through an abandoned donkey path / single track, away from cars and noise, which allows us to experience the other side of Mykonos, in its pure and untouched condition.
NOTE: Part of the trail might be inaccessible due to flooding between March and May.
Optionally: beach shoes (to feel more comfortable walking on pebbles), goggles
Ideally: reusable bottles for us to fill them with cold water, avoiding the use of plastic single-use and environmentally unfriendly bottles
