The towering castle of Naxos holds many fascinating secrets, unveiling a world of forgotten times, when Latin conquerors held the island. Discover how some of the buildings in the castle are still being used and how its fortifications protected the city. Centuries after the ancient Greeks had shaped their destiny by taking advantage of several strategic spots on the island, such as the Naxian Castle and the Temple of Apollo, the Latin occupiers followed in their footsteps. This labyrinthine settlement of great architectural and historical significance was the administrative and educational center of the island and unlike other castles, it remains inhabited till today.
