Amorgos Island
Langada – Epanochoriani – Theologos – Stavros
One of the favourite hiking routes on Amorgos, offering amazing views.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Visit the Byzantine complex of Agios Ioannis Theologos
- Walk along the cliffs of Amorgos
- Enjoy stunning views
We will start from the upper parking area of Langada (Loza) and head towards Epanochoriani, the most important church of the area, offering amazing views amid an idyllic setting. We will then walk uphill along the base of Mt. Krikellos, crossing farmland and beautiful pastures, until we reach the Monastery of Agios Ioannis (St John) Theologos, nested in the centre of a designated Natura 2000 area. Only the sound of the birds and the wind disturb the pristine silence as we continue along steep slopes towards the impressive setting of the chapel of Stavros. After a stop at this remote location, we will return to Langada following the same route.
