Naxos

The heart of the Cyclades

Naxos, the biggest of the Cyclades cluster, is a place of immense landscape variety, with its endless sandy beaches enclosing a hinterland of rich farmland, high mountains and lush forest. Hike the extensive network of the islands’ paths to reach traditional villages, mountain peaks and waterfalls, or stroll the winding streets of the medieval town of Naxos, right next to the port. Explore the past and the present following Ariadne’s thread of time, an eternal symbol of the island’s millennia-old history.

Getting There

Naxos can be reached by ferry and domestic flights all year round. Ferries to Piraeus are plenty all year round and during summer season there are even more connections to Piraeus, as well as other Aegean islands (including Mykonos and Santorini).
You can visit Ferryhopper in order to plan your itinerary.

Getting Around

There is a bus service connecting most of the island’s villages and points of interest during the touristic season. Public transport is much more limited during the rest of the year, but still active.
You can check the timetables available at the Naxos Buses website.
Taxi, minibus and bus charter is available, as well as car, motorbike and squad rental.
