Located far from Naxos town, at an altitude of 600m, the stone-built village of Apiranthos is a majestic feat by itself, even if the geological formations that betray the origins of the stones remain more impressive. Its inhabitants have created a unique culture and way of living in this remote mountainous location, where the altitude offers extraordinary views of the Naxian mountain ranges and great geological interest. The area retains its unique authenticity due to its architecture and stone built houses but also thanks to its remoteness and altitude that differentiates it from other villages on the island.
